What benefits are provided to the Hero of Russia?
According to the Law of the Russian Federation of January 15, 1993 No. 4301-I “On the status of Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of the Russian Federation and full holders of the Order of Glory” in relation to Heroes of Russia, the need for the state to implement measures guaranteeing their economic and social well-being is recognized, their status is established and appropriate rights and benefits are provided.

There are also benefits in the civilian sphere intended exclusively for people with the Hero star:
- The legal right to be accepted into regional and federal government structures for leadership positions.
- The right to tax exemption, free telephone connection and use of the services of a telecom operator, free use of utilities and exemption from rent for premises for voluntary associations and charitable enterprises, the participants of which are only citizens with the title of Hero of Russia, and which are created in order to improve the quality of fulfillment of obligations, resolution of issues, execution of guarantees, protection of rights and other non-commercial activities.
Labor preferences also did not pass by the Heroes, among them are:
- additional unpaid leave of up to 21 days;
- basic annual paid leave at any convenient time without taking into account the vacation schedule;
- free advanced training and professional development training at the enterprise at the expense of the employer;
- dismissal when reducing the number of employees in the last place;
- employment without a queue through the Employment Center in case of bankruptcy of a company, its liquidation, reorganization and staff reduction.
If the title of Hero was awarded to a citizen posthumously, the right to receive all benefits and preferences passes to the Hero’s family, namely:
- spouse;
- children under 18 years of age;
- children under 23 years of age studying full-time at a university;
- disabled children.
Family members of the Hero have the right to count on the following benefits after the death of the holder of the honorary title:
- Hero of the Russian Federation pension;
- tax exemption (only in case of non-commercial activities);
- free medical care without waiting lists;
- a one-time payment of 20 thousand rubles to the widow, widower, parents and children of the Hero;
- free use of utilities;
- compensation for telecom operator services;
- free pass for public transport within the city and in the suburbs;
- enrollment in a university without a waiting list on a budgetary basis.
Not only the Hero of Russia himself, but also his immediate relatives can receive additional assistance from the state. Family members who apply for financial support from the state in the event of the death of a Hero of Russia include:
- spouses (the marriage must be officially registered);
- children of the Hero of Russia under 18 years of age;
- children of a beneficiary under 23 years of age, if they are in full-time education up to this age;
- disabled children of the Hero of Russia throughout life;

Other relatives cannot count on receiving assistance from the state in the event of the death of a Hero of Russia.

How much are Heroes of Russia paid monthly in 2021?
According to Art. 9.1 of the Law of the Russian Federation of January 15, 1993 No. 4301-I To the Heroes of Russia, upon their application, a monthly cash payment is set at 36,410 rubles. The size of the monthly cash payment is subject to indexation once a year from February 1 of the current year based on the consumer price growth index for the previous year. The indexation coefficient is determined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
Heroes of Russia, subject to refusal of benefits, have the right to establish a monthly cash payment, starting from January 1 of the year following the year of filing the application for establishing a monthly cash payment, and until December 31 of the year in which the Hero applies for refusal to receive a monthly cash payment.
An application for establishing a monthly cash payment is submitted to the territorial body of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation by December 31 of the current year, and an application for refusal to receive a monthly cash payment is submitted before October 1 of the current year in the manner established by the federal executive body exercising the functions of developing and implementing state policy and legal regulation in the field of labor and social protection of the population.
In the event of the death (death) of the Hero, members of his family (widow (widower), parents, children under the age of 18, children over 18 who became disabled before they reached the age of 18, and children under the age of 23 studying in organizations carrying out educational activities, full-time study) are entitled to benefits or a monthly cash payment.
The amount of monthly cash payment to each family member (widow (widower), parents, children under 18 years of age, children over 18 years of age who became disabled before reaching the age of 18 years, and children under 23 years of age studying in organizations providing educational activity, full-time education) of the deceased (deceased) Hero is determined by dividing the amount of the monthly monetary payment established for the Hero or full holder of the Order of Glory by the number of members of his family.
Thus, in 2021, the amount of the monthly payment intended for the Hero of Russia is:
- basic monthly payment – 42,654 rubles;
- additional payment – 16,000 rubles;
- monthly supplement to old-age pension – 13,200 rubles;

The indicated payment amount does not take into account the regional coefficient, which is calculated by the regions in addition to the established amount of payments.

The burden of taxation for the GRF is much lighter than for citizens who do not have such status.

It is worth noting that the EDV (monthly cash payment) is valid not only when the Hero is alive, but also remains after death. The state thereby takes care of both the individual and his family, which is a truly high level of gratitude to the exceptional services of a real person to his homeland.
In addition to the listed benefits, Heroes of the Russian Federation are entitled to cash payments, the amount of which is established by federal legislation. The responsibility for paying funds is assigned to the regional branches of the Pension Fund. The Heroes' pension is assigned regardless of whether the citizen receives any other benefits or pension payments.
The amount of financial payments to Heroes, established at the federal level, is currently 63,700 rubles .
